The Question:
Write about a fear that you once had, and how you were able to overcome it. Like the young Patricia, did someone help you? Did you grow out of the fear? Did something happen to you, that made you not afraid anymore?

Answer: "I was afraid of snakes until I went to a teacher who had one. She let me hold it . I am not afaid of snakes now."

Answer: "I was scared of the dark once but I prayed and the fear went away."

Answer: "When I was six, I was afraid of dogs because my friend Wesley got bit by one. Now I am not because so many of my friends have one. Now my friend Andrew just got a new dog on October 14, 2001 and he really likes his new dog."

Answer: "I was scared about the thunderstorm one night. I went in my sisters I could still hear the thunder go BOOM BOOM! Her and me closed the shades and snuggled under the blankets together. When I grew up I was not scared any more because I knew it could not hurt me. For the rest of my life I was not scared of the thunderstorms any more. I slept in my bed for the rest of my life."

Answer: "I used to be afraid to sleep by myself. My mother or father had to lay with me until I fell asleep. Even my older brother would sleep with me. One night when I was sick, my mother would not let my brother sleep with me. After that night I was able to sleep by myself."

Answer: "My fear was of a roller coaster. I was afraid they would turn over. My sister made me go on one. I was still a little scared. My brother, Jason, took me on one you have to stand on. I stopped being afraid after that."

Answer: "Once I had a fear of fireworks but I out grew it. When I went to Disney World in 1999, I realized that fireworks could not hurt me."

Answer: "A few weeks ago I had a fear of monsters under my bed. Then a movie came out called Monsters Inc. It said that the monsters where afraid of people. Now I am not afraid of monsters anymore."
